Sex and the City 2 Premiere (New York)

28 May

I don’t know about you but I have been counting down the days until the premiere of Sex and the City 2 for well, let’s just say quite a while now. I am going to be honest with you- I never watch the series- BUT, I still consider myself a HUGE fan. I loved the first movie and I’m really hoping for a third.

The New York City premiere was May 24, 2010 at Radio City Music Hall and I must say that I am LOVING the fashion! I am a big fan of neons/brights (which 50% of the main cast was wearing!)

First off, they all look amazing don’t you think? I am especially loving Carrie (far left) and Charlotte (second from the right) If you don’t know who is who though, I’m not really sure why you are reading this article, lol. *Note: I will be referring to the cast by their character names*

Let’s break down the outfits (from left to right for those of you who have been living under a rock!):

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker)

Looked amazing in a neon yellow Valentino dress that was daring but definitely not skanky.  I almost didn’t recognize her! I think she looks great though from head to toe. She also looks a bit tanned? The only thing I wasn’t a big fan of were the heels (by Salvatore Ferragamo). While I like the colour and style, I found that they made her feet look ridiculously large. What do you think?

Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall)

My least favourite of the bunch (and I usually LOVE what she wears.)  It was a slinky Naeem Khan dress that was covered in a daisy like print. I guess up close (I wouldn’t know as I wasn’t there) it was very un-elegant. I think the colour is a bit washed out as well. Are you digging this?

Charlotte York (Kristin Davis)

Can I please have Carrie’s dress but in Charlotte’s colour? The hot neon electrifying pink makes me so…. excited. It’s young, it’s fresh, it’s super cool and she looks great! Even better was the fact that it was a vintage Jean Dresses gown! It fit her body and personality perfectly!

Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon)

Where to start? It was pretty, but it was plain. What happened to the fierce (did I just type that word?) and fiery red numbers? Usually it’s Miranda standing out on the carpet. I think she played it too safe in this Carolina Herrera gown.  The photo looks pretty plain Jane to me, although I have been reading that up close it was a very exquisite dress.

The After Party

The loud ladies in neon opted for a change of wardrobe for the afterparty. Could the vintage dress have been too tight and too hard to walk in for Charlotte? Possibly.  What about SJP? I loved her Valentino dress- it deserved much more than the 15 minutes of fame it got. Both ladies ended up changing into more flirty after party approved dresses. Carrie slipped into a beautiful sleeved dress with black lace by Elie Saab (that was right off the runway from her 2010 Fall collection!) Might I point out the super hot platform sandals from Kasia’s 2010 collection! (HAWT!) Charlotte ended up changing into a vintage Pierre Balmain Couture dress for the after party. What do you think? Who did the best outfit change? Was it the right thing to do?

I am super sad that I couldn’t be there. I am also bummed that I didn’t grab my tickets (for the movie) early enough. At my local theatre (which offers VIP reserved seating service) all of the shows were (basically) sold out until Monday. So I opted for Tuesday tickets (the money saver in me- 50% less on Tuesday’s!) I will do a mini (non-spoiler) review after I see it. I will leave you with some SATC fashions from the New York premiere! Enjoy! xo.

Diet Coke Nail Polish & Designer Bottles!

24 May

That’s right! You are reading that correctly! In the UK, Diet Coke has teamed up with Nails, Inc. to release 4 shades of nail polish inspired by the cities of London, New York, Paris & Milan called the Diet Coke City Collection. The nail lacquer comes free at select Boots stores in the UK between May 5 and June 20 with the purchase of 2- 500 ml bottles. I am super bummed when I found out that it was only in the UK 😦 Although, I have heard that you will be able to buy the bottles on Asos soon! (They have an ongoing partnership with Diet Coke.)

From left to right: “London” is the nude polish- to depict the posh fashion sense of the Brits, “Paris” is the deep purple and is supposed to depict the sunset over the Eiffel Tower. “New York” is a bright fuchsia (for the city that never sleeps) and “Milan” is a fiery Italian red.

Coca Cola has made quite the advance into the fashion world recently not only with the nail polish but also with it’s advertorials for their Coca Cola Light brand (in the UK.)

Italian fashion designers Donatella Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Anna Molinari for Blumarine, Veronica Etro, Silvia Venturini for Fendi, Consuelo Castiglioni for Marni, Angela Missoni and Rossella Jardini for Moschino, have teamed with Coca Cola for fund raising campaign in support of the victims of the earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy.

Check them out below!

Karl Lagerfield also designed a limited edition Coca Cola Light bottle (in the UK) He also ran a print ad:

I love Coca Cola! I think this is super cool (the nail polish and the designer bottles) I am super bummed that these are limited to the UK. I will definitely be trying to grab some of that laquer on Asos though! What do you think? Depending on the price point would you buy it? I know the colours aren’t anything new and exciting, but being a Coca Cola fan (and nail polish addict) it will go nicely in both of my collections 🙂
